Thank you for respecting the artwork and creative work of Mindi Oaten. This policy explains what purchasing artwork allows, what remains protected by copyright, and when permission is needed to reproduce or use an artwork image.
In general, purchasing an original painting, fine art print, book, or other physical product does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights. If you would like to use Mindi’s artwork in a publication, ministry resource, media feature, product, commercial project, or other reproduced format, please request permission first.
Ownership of Artwork & Copyright
Copyright and other intellectual-property rights in artwork created by Mindi Oaten remain with Mindi Oaten and/or Mindi Oaten Art LLC unless those rights are transferred through a separate written agreement.
This includes original paintings and the images made from them, as well as artwork reproduced in fine art prints, books, publications, digital images, product photography, and other creative materials.
Copyright ownership is separate from ownership of a physical painting or print.
Purchasing Original Art or Prints
When you purchase an original painting or fine art print, you own that physical item.
Your purchase does not automatically include the right to:
- make additional prints or copies
- publish or distribute the artwork image
- place the artwork on merchandise or products
- use the artwork in advertising or branding
- license the artwork to another person or organization
- sell digital reproductions of the artwork
- use the image in another commercial project
Those rights remain with the copyright owner unless permission or a separate license is granted in writing.
Commissioned Artwork
Commissioning a painting does not automatically transfer copyright or reproduction rights.
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, Mindi Oaten retains the copyright and reproduction rights to commissioned artwork.
If your commission needs publishing, reproduction, licensing, merchandise, advertising, or other commercial rights, please discuss those needs before the project begins so the appropriate rights can be included in a written agreement.
Personal Display
Collectors may display purchased physical artwork and prints in their homes, offices, churches, businesses, galleries, or other appropriate physical spaces.
Displaying the physical artwork does not include the right to reproduce the artwork image in printed materials, online publications, advertising, products, presentations, merchandise, or other media.
Social Media Sharing
You are welcome to share links to Mindi Oaten artwork, product, and collection pages and to tag or mention Mindi Oaten Art when sharing your experience with the artwork.
Using a social platform’s normal link-preview feature is also welcome.
Credit alone does not grant permission to download and republish an artwork image. Please request permission before downloading, re-uploading, reposting, publishing, or otherwise distributing artwork images from the website.
Artwork images should not be altered, filtered, cropped in a way that changes the work, overlaid with graphics or text, or presented without appropriate attribution when permission for use has been granted.
Editorial, Media & Educational Use
Editorial, media, educational, gallery, and publication inquiries are welcome, but use of artwork images requires prior permission unless a separate written agreement already covers that use.
This includes uses such as:
- articles and online publications
- books, book covers, devotionals, and curriculum
- podcasts, videos, thumbnails, and media promotions
- gallery catalogs and exhibition materials
- classroom presentations and educational resources
- printed study materials
Approved image files, required credit, permitted cropping, resolution, duration, and other terms can be confirmed as part of the permission or licensing process.
Church & Ministry Use
Mindi is grateful when churches and ministries connect with the artwork and is happy to consider ministry use requests individually.
Please request permission before reproducing or publishing an artwork image in:
- sermon or presentation slides
- livestreams or video backgrounds
- church publications
- devotionals or study guides
- conference or event graphics
- ministry websites or social media
- printed resources or curriculum
Nonprofit, church, or ministry status does not automatically include reproduction rights, but permission or licensing may be available depending on the project.
Commercial Use & Merchandise
Artwork may not be reproduced or used commercially without written authorization.
This includes use on or in connection with:
- merchandise or products
- product packaging
- print-on-demand products
- advertising and promotional campaigns
- logos or branding
- commercial websites or apps
- album or book covers
- licensed consumer products
- stock libraries or templates
If you are a publisher, author, gallery, designer, retailer, ministry, brand, or other organization interested in using an artwork commercially, please contact Mindi Oaten Art to discuss licensing.
Licensing & Publishing
Image licenses are considered on a case-by-case basis.
When requesting a license, please include:
- your name and organization
- the artwork title or link
- how the image will be used
- whether the use is commercial or nonprofit
- the intended medium or format
- expected distribution or print run
- geographic reach, if relevant
- duration of use
- your publication, launch, or event date
A license is not granted until the permitted use and any applicable terms or fees have been confirmed in writing.
Alteration & Derivative Works
Please do not publish, distribute, sell, license, or commercially use altered or derivative versions of Mindi Oaten’s artwork without written permission.
This includes edited versions, redraws, filters, overlays, digital alterations, composites, adaptations, or other transformations based substantially on the original artwork.
When image use is approved, any permitted cropping, formatting, or other modification should follow the terms of that permission or license.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Mindi Oaten artwork and images may not be used without explicit written consent for:
- AI training datasets
- machine-learning systems or datasets
- generative image platforms
- style-transfer systems
- model training or fine-tuning
- automated content-generation systems
Access to an artwork image online does not grant permission for AI, machine-learning, or automated training use.
NFTs & Digital Tokenization
Mindi Oaten artwork may not be minted, tokenized, sold, licensed, or distributed as an NFT, blockchain-based asset, or similar digital token without explicit written authorization.
Purchasing a physical original or print does not include NFT or digital-token rights.
Permission Requests
If you would like to reproduce, publish, license, feature, or otherwise use an artwork image, please contact Mindi Oaten Art before using the image.
Permission requests are considered individually based on the artwork, proposed use, audience, distribution, duration, and commercial or nonprofit nature of the project.
Written permission applies only to the use that was approved and does not transfer copyright ownership unless a separate written agreement expressly says otherwise.
