"Lamp on a Stand" - Collectors Club, November 2021
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14, KJV.
“And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light” (Mark 4:21-22, ESV).

I felt drawn to linger with the parable of the lampstand, to sit with it quietly and listen for the heart of the Father.
I longed to search out what He is speaking to His beloved in this hour, and how His words still breathe life into us today.
At the beginning of this piece, I reflected on a passage from the Gospel of Gospel of Matthew. This translation carries a wide and luminous vision, one that speaks not only to the individual, but to the whole body of believers. It calls us “the light of the world,” a people set apart, like “a city on a hill,” shining for all to see. A light not hidden, but lifted high, giving warmth and guidance to all within its reach.
This light is not something we strive to create on our own. It rises naturally from a life rooted in communion, in nearness, in unity with Him and with one another. It is the quiet glow of a heart aligned with heaven.
As His people, we are invited into both privilege and responsibility. To live differently. To carry His presence with intention. To steward our time, our gifts, and our lives with care while we walk upon this earth.
And from that place, our lives begin to illuminate. Our homes, our cities, our communities are touched by His light within us.
If not us, then who will carry it?
