Haggai speaks of a critical juncture in the restoration process of Israel. Although the people have begun the rebuilding of their lives, the temple of the Lord still lies in ruins. This reality weighs heavy on Haggai’s prophetic message, to rebuild and restore the importance of worship, making God their number one focus. I wanted the painting to give this message, rebuild and restore God’s presence.
