Ezra "The Priest Proclaiming Freedom"
I painted Ezra and Nehemiah as separate paintings, but with a similar style. The characters and story overlap. For both books I wanted to capture the main characters of who Ezra and Nehemiah were and what they represent.
The overall composition I chose to portray reflects the primary pattern of the book: return and renew. The Israelites return to the land from exile and rebuild the temple to re-institute worship practices. There is a breath of fresh air, a returning to the Promised Land and return to God’s ways. This painting invites the viewer to experience the spirit of a new beginning, rebirth and a life after exile.
Originally painted in acrylic on canvas.
