1 & 2 Timothy | Saviour of the Sinners & Leader of the Leaders
Mindi's Reflection
The first of the pastoral letters written to the young leaders in churches, Paul urges these young pastors the importance of godliness and holiness in life. Jesus is our example and came as the saviour for the worst sinners, Paul is of one of them before life in Christ, and because we have the Holy Spirit to enable us, we can walk out this truth. Jesus came to give us wholeness in life, to gives us the ability to draw close to Him and lead a life making us more in His image.
The central theme in the second half of Timothy is to guard the gospel and persevere. Jesus is our example of the fullness of God in bodily form, revealing who the Father is. We aspire to imitate Him; but even better is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that reform us inwardly and gives us the power to walk in purity. We can “fight the good fight of faith” by fighting from victory, the finished work of Christ. We are victorious and can preserver until the end because of what he already did for us.
