"Lament: Offering Up Our Brokenness" - fine art print

“Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord; lift up your hands to Him…”Lamentations 2:19

~

Beneath a weeping sky, hands rise toward a narrow beam of light, cupping fragments of broken pottery. Rain falls like tears, mingling heaven and earth. The vessel, once whole, now lies in pieces — yet still it is lifted. In that gesture of surrender, the broken pottery becomes the language of the soul: our own brokenness offered up to God.

Lament is not the absence of faith but its most honest expression. It is the cry that brings every shard — the sin, the sorrow, the hardened places of the heart — into His presence. In the downpour of lament, something sacred happens: mercy meets our fragments, light pierces the storm, and the One who formed us begins to restore what has been shattered.

In lifting the pieces, we remember — He never turns away the brokenhearted. Even our cracks become places where His glory can shine through.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise." — Psalm 51:17

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." — Matthew 5:4
