The Story Behind the Work
Shop Immanuel as a fine art canvas print or ready-to-hang stretched canvas. Each piece is printed to order by Mindi Oaten Art.
Immanuel is Scripture-inspired Christian artwork based on Matthew 1:23, portraying the birth of Jesus Christ and the promise of “God with us.”
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23
This precious painting captures a serene moment surrounding the birth of Jesus, Immanuel, meaning "God with us." Set against the backdrop of a humble stable, there's a subtle yet powerful portrayal of celestial influence: the radiant beams of light, suggesting the Star of Bethlehem that historically shone over His birthplace, guiding the wise men and announcing the arrival of the Savior.
The scene is illuminating the newborn Jesus, whose feet are graced by the presence of a vibrant monarch butterfly. Known as the "king" of butterflies, its inclusion symbolizes Jesus's divine destiny in the lineage of David. This butterfly, juxtaposed against the tender feet of Jesus, beautifully intertwines the concepts of humble beginnings with the promise of a majestic future, and the One who will crush Satan underfoot.
Foregrounded is a lamb, an emblem of purity, innocence, and sacrifice, watching over the baby, Immanuel. This serves as a reminder of Jesus's sacrificial role and the salvation he would bring to humanity. The entire composition, with its earthy tones and divine symbols, paints a vivid picture of that holy night when heaven touched earth, God is truly with us.

Unstretched canvas prints can be framed, mounted, or professionally stretched by your local framer. Because each artwork has its own proportions, available sizes vary; order from the size and format shown on the individual product page.
Need help choosing a size or format? Contact Mindi Oaten Art or visit the Frequently Asked Questions.
A Stretched Canvas Print is a fine art canvas print stretched over an internal support frame, creating a ready-to-display presentation without first visiting a framer. It can be hung as-is or placed inside a decorative outer frame.
Stretched canvas sizes vary by artwork. If the size you need is not listed, contact the studio to ask whether a custom stretched size is available.
Mindi Oaten Art may be able to create an approved custom fine art canvas print in a size not listed on the product page. Custom print orders are quoted individually based on the artwork, final dimensions, proportions, and finishing requirements.
Custom sizes must respect the proportions of the original painting, and some dimensions may require cropping. The studio will confirm what works visually before the order is finalized.
