"I Look to You" - Painted Day 22, reviveWISCONSIN
"When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28)
"For then you will delight in the Almighty And lift up your face to God." (Job 22:26)
"fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)
During a time of silence with the Lord, I had a vision of a field of sunflowers. It was simple but vivid and I knew the Lord wanted me to take note of the sunflowers. He said, be like the sunflowers. I love all types of flowers and often paint them, but never had I taken note of a sunflower. I don't know much about them, so I read about sunflowers and what stuck out to me the most was that sunflowers constantly face the sun. Their heads look towards the sun and they follow the sun throughout the day. Wow! As I prayed more about the vision I knew the Lord was telling me that in this time, be like a sunflower and always face me, the Son.
We are to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, it is the only way we will stay focused with the hope and joy set before us. Whatever trials or troubles we go through, we can endure anything by turning our face towards the Son.
The name sunflower may derive from the flower's head's shape, which resembles the sun, or from the impression that the blooming plant appears to slowly turn its flower towards the sun as the latter moves across the sky on a daily basis.
