"Remain in Me" - Collectors Club, February 2022

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5, NIV

“Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17, AMP

~

Praying for the month of February, I was drawn to the parable of “new wine” and felt the urge to paint this image. Crossing into this new season, I’ve been asking the Lord to empty me of any old wineskin behaviours or thoughts, so I am ready to receive and carry the “new” He has to pour out. As I prepared for this painting, I imagined Jesus holding the vine of grapes, the new wine pouring from His hands… He holds the “new” in the Spirit and pours it into those who are willing to carry it. When we abide in Him, we receive the new wine. He takes us through a season of pressing and crushing in order to produce the new, so we can pour it out into the world. As most of you know, I have often painted the butterfly, representing a state of transforming into His image. I believe our life is in a constant state of renewal, a process of eb and flow in the Spirit, so that we will not get stuck in old ways.
