Drawn from John 9:5–7, Eyes Opened enters the miracle of Jesus healing the man born blind and sending him to wash at the Pool of Siloam.
"While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing." John 9: 5-7
In the masterful strokes of this work, the canvas becomes a silent witness to a moment of divine intervention, where faith and miracle blend. This painting, drawn from the Gospel narrative where Jesus heals a man blind from birth, using the very essence of the earth as a prophetic act of healing.
The composition centers on the blind man, his countenance rendered with a raw honesty that is almost tangible. His features are sculpted with care, the rugged texture of his skin and the cloth across his eyes speaking to the reality of his lifelong darkness. The hands of Jesus are depicted in the midst of anointing the man's eyes with mud— an elemental mixture symbolizing the Creator's touch, a reminder that we are all but clay in the potter's hands.
As the butterfly dances near, its wings like delicate stained glass, it embodies transformation and the promise of new life. It flutters in the periphery of a miracle, a silent herald of the awakening soon to be experienced by the man who has known only darkness.
In the narrative, Jesus's command to the blind man was simple yet profound: "Go," he said, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (John 9:7). This pool, whose name means "Sent," becomes more than a body of water—it symbolizes a baptismal journey from blindness to sight, from darkness to light. The blind man's obedience to this command is his act of faith, his personal pilgrimage towards healing.
This miraculous event, however, is but a shadow of the greater healing that Jesus offers—a restoration not just of bodily sight but of spiritual vision. For we, too, are blind in ways that the eyes cannot perceive, and it is only through the touch of His Spirit, the washing clean by grace, that we can truly see.

A Stretched Canvas Print is a fine art canvas print stretched over an internal support frame, creating a ready-to-display presentation without first visiting a framer. It can be hung as-is or placed inside a decorative outer frame.
Stretched canvas sizes vary by artwork. If the size you need is not listed, contact the studio to ask whether a custom stretched size is available.
Mindi Oaten Art may be able to create an approved custom fine art canvas print in a size not listed on the product page. Custom print orders are quoted individually based on the artwork, final dimensions, proportions, and finishing requirements.
Custom sizes must respect the proportions of the original painting, and some dimensions may require cropping. The studio will confirm what works visually before the order is finalized.

Displaying: keep artwork indoors and away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture, smoke, and rapid temperature changes.
Handling: use clean, dry hands and hold prints or originals by the edges whenever possible. Support larger pieces evenly with two hands.
Cleaning: use only a soft, dry cloth or clean artist’s brush. Do not apply water, glass cleaner, oils, sprays, or household cleaners directly to printed or painted surfaces.
Framing: archival, acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing are recommended for works on paper and can also help protect fine art prints. Canvas works should be framed or stretched appropriately for the specific piece.
