Part of my Beauty for Ashes collection, Tender Mercy is an original mixed media artwork inspired by the promise of Isaiah 61:3—that God exchanges ashes for beauty and faithfully restores every heart surrendered to Him through His unfailing mercy.
Mercy is often where healing truly begins. It is the gentle embrace of God that meets us in our weakness, not with condemnation, but with compassion. His mercy does not overlook our brokenness; it reaches into it, restoring what has been wounded and reminding us that we are deeply loved. Like delicate blossoms opening toward the light, His mercy invites weary hearts to bloom again.
Created with watercolor, charcoal, and genuine gold leaf, each material carries intentional symbolism. The charcoal represents ashes, refining, and the seasons that have left their mark. The watercolor reflects surrender, tenderness, and the quiet work of the Holy Spirit. The unfinished circle of gold surrounding the flowers symbolizes God’s eternal presence and His ongoing work of restoration. His mercy is new every morning, surrounding us with grace that never fails and love that patiently continues His transforming work.
