“Act of Casting” - Painted Day 139 of reviveINDIANA, South Bend
'And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.' (NASB, Matthew 4:19)
In order to catch fish, the fisherman has to perform the act of casting the line. It is uncertain whether or not a fish will actually be caught, but the fisherman must try in order to get a result. Without casting the line, the likelihood of catching a fish would be next to nothing. The fisherman must be patient for the fish to bite, and may not always get one. But he still tries. What is under the water is unknown.
When the line is released and drops in the water, it will create a ripple on the surface. I love this image and how it relates to being a fisher of men for the Kingdom. When we go out and “drop the line” in someone’s life, we may not know how far the ripples will extend. We are all called to be fishermen. The waters are everywhere and waiting.
