“Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2, AMP.

“Open the east window,” said Elisha. So he opened it and Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them." 2 Kings 13:17, Berean Study.

As I prayed and asked the Lord what image He wanted me to paint, I saw these birds flying to take position on arrows staked in the ground. As I asked the Lord for what bird to paint, I heard “the jay” and looked up what a jay looks like. When I saw the “Gray Jay” I knew it was the bird I envisioned. Specifically three birds representing the Godhead of the trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The three also can represent unity of the body of Christ, coming together in alignment of God’s purposes to advance together.

The Gray Jay: Represents qualities of faithfulness, courage, and sovereign protection. These birds are known to guard over one’s territory (birds that can be known as the watchmen), bringing about a word of warning.

The Arrows: Often symbolize peace, however they are not simply characterized as being the “peacemakers.”

Arrows can be used as tactical weapon that offer protection, safety, strategy and of course accuracy. People who use arrows to hunt have developed the gift of patience. Those who wait in hiding for the appropriate time to advance, pull back and aim to hit the target.

The Maple Leaf: Represents unity, healing, and peace. The leaf also marks the beginning of a seasonal shift that will bring new colors to change the surroundings of an atmosphere.

I painted the leaf riding on the wind, which is a picture of the Holy Spirit directing the flow of movement, much like we need to be surrendered to His ways and will.
