"Hope & Renewal" | Ezra - 'Garden of Grace' mini collection - fine art print

I chose the citrus fruit and branches for very symbolic reasons as it relates to tradition the Jewish people did during the rejoicing and the feast of Tabernacles. The four sacred plants of the festival of Tabernacles were the palm tree, willow tree, myrtle tree, and citron fruit. A palm lead, two willow stems, and three myrtle stems were bound together and held in the right hand. Citron fruit was in the left hand. Jews recited a blessing and waved the four species in six directions (east, south, ester, north, up and down) to symbolize that God was everywhere. God promised to give the returned exiles a hope and a future (Jer. 29:11). When the returned Jews celebrate Sukkot with the citron, they demonstrated hope.
