The Story Behind the Work
Shop Not My will but Yours as a fine art canvas print or ready-to-hang stretched canvas. Each piece is printed to order by Mindi Oaten Art.
Drawn from Luke 22:41–42, Not My will but Yours enters the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus surrenders fully to the Father's will.
"He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22: 41-42
In the hallowed Garden of Gethsemane, beneath the cloak of a star-studded sky, Jesus endured an unfathomable anguish that foreshadowed His impending sacrifice, much like the sweat of drops of blood that glisten on a pure, unblemished sacrificial lamb. His anguished cries reverberated through the ancient olive grove, encapsulating an inner turmoil that hinted at the agonizing journey He was destined to undertake.
As He knelt in the stillness of the garden, His sweat fell like drops of blood, a poignant prelude to the sacred Lamb of God, about to be offered in atonement for the sins of humanity. Just as the butterfly's chrysalis represents an earthly struggle toward rebirth, the sweat of blood upon Jesus' brow signified the excruciating earthly struggle that would lead to His ultimate sacrifice. The Garden of Gethsemane became a chrysalis of reflection and transformation, as the burden of humanity's sins pressed upon Him, much like the confining walls of the chrysalis.
As Jesus uttered those heart-rending words, "Not my will, but Yours be done," it was a declaration of surrender, a foreshadowing of the ultimate earthly struggle to death on the Cross that lay ahead.

Mindi’s fine art canvas prints are reproductions of her original paintings printed on artist-quality canvas. Sizes vary by artwork, from smaller pieces to larger statement sizes. Unless the product option specifically says Stretched Canvas Print, canvas prints are shipped unstretched.
Unstretched canvas prints can be framed, mounted, or professionally stretched by your local framer. Because each artwork has its own proportions, available sizes vary; order from the size and format shown on the individual product page.

A Stretched Canvas Print is a fine art canvas print stretched over an internal support frame, creating a ready-to-display presentation without first visiting a framer. It can be hung as-is or placed inside a decorative outer frame.
Stretched canvas sizes vary by artwork. If the size you need is not listed, contact the studio to ask whether a custom stretched size is available.
Mindi Oaten Art may be able to create an approved custom fine art canvas print in a size not listed on the product page. Custom print orders are quoted individually based on the artwork, final dimensions, proportions, and finishing requirements.
Custom sizes must respect the proportions of the original painting, and some dimensions may require cropping. The studio will confirm what works visually before the order is finalized.
