The Story Behind the Work

About the Artwork

"Garment of Promise" - fine art print

Inspired by Genesis 37–50

~

Long before the palace, before the dreams were fulfilled, there was a robe—woven in many colours — a father’s gift to a beloved son.

A symbol of favour. Of identity. Of destiny whispered in thread and hue.

Though torn from Joseph’s shoulders, what man stripped away, God never forgot.

In this painting, I saw Jesus —tender and royal— holding the robe again. Not just Joseph’s… but yours.

A covering crafted by the King, a mantle of mercy and promise, stitched with every part of your journey: the golden moments, the crimson trials, the emerald fields of growth, the sapphire depths of pain and transformation.

He holds it out —gentle, steady— not forcing, just inviting:

“This is yours. I made it for you. Wear it again.”

You are not forgotten. Your favour has not faded. The story still unfolds in the hands of the One who weaves glory from ashes.

~ Mindi Oaten

This multicoloured garment calls to mind the rainbow, God’s sign of promise to Noah — a symbol of faithfulness through judgment, and hope after the storm. Like the rainbow, this mantle speaks of covenant and covering — a visual reminder that God keeps His word, even when the journey looks nothing like we imagined.

Joseph was given a robe — and a dream — but before the fulfillment came betrayal, family rejection, false accusation, and years of waiting. Stripped of his garment and thrown into the pit, Joseph was rejected by his brothers — just as Jesus, the beloved Son, was rejected by His own, stripped, and handed over to suffering for the sake of salvation.

“But the Lord was with Joseph…”— Genesis 39:2

And He is with you.

The trials you’ve endured — the heartbreak, the hidden years, the misunderstandings — have not disqualified you. They have refined you. What was meant to break you, God is using to build you. Like Joseph, you are being prepared for influence, provision, and restoration.

Above Jesus, an olive branch stretches into the scene — a symbol of peace after the storm, reconciliation, and a fresh anointing for the season ahead. It marks a sacred shift: from loss to legacy, from pain to purpose.

And just as Joseph was positioned in Goshen, a place of divine favour in a land of famine, God is preparing a Goshen for you — a place of covering, supply, and inheritance even in the midst of a shaking world.

Now Jesus stands before you, offering the Garment of Promise — not just to comfort you, but to commission you.

Not just to clothe your wounds, but to crown your perseverance.

Artwork Care & Materials

Fine art canvas prints

Mindi’s fine art canvas prints are reproductions of her original paintings printed on artist-quality canvas. Sizes vary by artwork, from smaller pieces to larger statement sizes. Unless the product option specifically says Stretched Canvas Print, canvas prints are shipped unstretched.

Unstretched canvas prints can be framed, mounted, or professionally stretched by your local framer. Because each artwork has its own proportions, available sizes vary; order from the size and format shown on the individual product page.

Need help choosing a size or format? Contact Mindi Oaten Art or visit the Frequently Asked Questions.

Stretched canvas prints

A Stretched Canvas Print is a fine art canvas print stretched over an internal support frame, creating a ready-to-display presentation without first visiting a framer. It can be hung as-is or placed inside a decorative outer frame.

Stretched canvas sizes vary by artwork. If the size you need is not listed, contact the studio to ask whether a custom stretched size is available.

Custom sizes & custom art print orders

Mindi Oaten Art may be able to create an approved custom fine art canvas print in a size not listed on the product page. Custom print orders are quoted individually based on the artwork, final dimensions, proportions, and finishing requirements.

Custom sizes must respect the proportions of the original painting, and some dimensions may require cropping. The studio will confirm what works visually before the order is finalized.

For a custom print size, contact Mindi Oaten Art. For an entirely new original artwork, visit the Custom Painting & Commission page. You can also review the FAQ.

Displaying, handling & long-term care

Displaying: keep artwork indoors and away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture, smoke, and rapid temperature changes.

Handling: use clean, dry hands and hold prints or originals by the edges whenever possible. Support larger pieces evenly with two hands.

Cleaning: use only a soft, dry cloth or clean artist’s brush. Do not apply water, glass cleaner, oils, sprays, or household cleaners directly to printed or painted surfaces.

Framing: archival, acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing are recommended for works on paper and can also help protect fine art prints. Canvas works should be framed or stretched appropriately for the specific piece.

For a specific artwork, custom size, framing choice, or care concern, contact Mindi Oaten Art. You can also visit the Frequently Asked Questions or learn about commissioning a custom painting.
