"Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you" - 2 Timothy 1:14

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." - 1 Peter 4:10

There is a sacred difference between receiving a gift and being entrusted with one.

This painting began as a quiet meditation on the hands of Christ, gently holding the treasures of His Kingdom. Yet as I lingered with the Lord, I sensed Him inviting me to look again. These were not simply gifts being offered; they were treasures being placed into our care.

Nestled within His hands, each symbol is rooted in Scripture and reveals something of His heart.

The ancient key speaks of the authority of Christ and the keys of His Kingdom entrusted to His Church. The polished arrow reminds us that God shapes and prepares His people in hidden places before releasing them into His purposes. The flower quietly proclaims hope, new life, and the beauty that emerges after seasons of waiting. The nest, cradling a single egg, represents promises held within God’s perfect timing—life that is precious, protected, and still unfolding. Beneath it rests a white feather, recalling the gentle covering and faithful presence of the Holy Spirit, under whose guidance every calling must remain.

Hovering above them all is the monarch butterfly. Though silent, it carries an essential part of the message: transformation.

Our eyes may first be drawn to the treasures resting in Christ’s hands, but the butterfly turns our attention toward the deeper work of God. His purpose is not only to accomplish something through us, but to form something within us. As we carry His promises, calling, authority, and presence, He is quietly transforming us into His likeness.

Together, these symbols tell one story: everything begins in the hands of Jesus.

Before the calling is known, the promise fulfilled, or the transformation made visible, He is already at work. Nothing in His care is accidental. Nothing is forgotten. And when He opens His hands, He does not merely offer us something beautiful—He entrusts us with something sacred.

What we receive from Him is more than a gift to enjoy; it is a treasure placed in our care. We are not owners, but stewards, invited to nurture and faithfully carry what has first rested in the hands of Christ.

Entrusted is an invitation to slow down, linger with the Lord, and consider:

What has Christ placed in my care, and how might I faithfully carry it for His glory?

And as we treasure what He has entrusted to us, may we always remember: the gifts are sacred, but He Himself is the Treasure.
