Part of my Beauty for Ashes collection, Peace Restored is an original mixed media artwork inspired by the promise of Isaiah 61:3—that God exchanges ashes for beauty and replaces weary striving with His lasting peace.
Peace is often one of the greatest gifts of restoration. It doesn’t always arrive because circumstances have changed, but because God’s presence has become greater than the storm. Like bluebonnets quietly covering a field after winter has passed, His peace begins to take root where fear, striving, and uncertainty once lived.
Created with watercolor, charcoal, and genuine gold leaf, each material carries intentional meaning. The charcoal represents ashes, refining, and seasons of hardship. The watercolor reflects surrender, gentleness, and the continual work of the Holy Spirit. The gold leaf speaks of redemption—God’s restoring presence surrounding every life surrendered to Him with beauty, dignity, and hope.
The unfinished circle of gold surrounding the flowers symbolizes God’s eternal presence and His ongoing work of restoration. His peace is not temporary or dependent upon circumstances. It is the steady assurance that He remains with us, faithfully completing what He has begun.
Peace Restored is the fourth painting in the Beauty for Ashes series, where each flower represents a unique expression of God’s redeeming work. Every story follows a different path, yet each one points to the same enduring promise: nothing surrendered to Christ is ever wasted. From the ashes, He brings beauty. From struggle, He brings peace.
