I felt the most powerful image was about unity in the Church with Christ at the centre, so I decided to keep this painting simple with one theme: unity.
Jesus Christ is the only cure for division – “who is joined together with the Lord is one spirit with Him.” God wants to knit His church together in love, bonded together in peace, and united in one faith under one Lord striving in harmony with one accord. The hands represent the various functions and gifting of the Church, essential to work together, while holding the love of God in the centre. If Christ is the centre, we all should work together in love and unison.
The central theme of the second painting I chose to paint was the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that gives us the power and comfort to get through life’s trials and persecution. We may suffer in this world, but Christ overcame that suffering as our down payment, so we may be moulded into his image and made whole in him, despite our cracked nature.
