"Lamp on a Stand" - Collectors Club, November 2021
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14, KJV.
“And he said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light” (Mark 4:21-22, ESV).

For the month of November, I felt the need to write on the parable of the lampstand.
I wanted to search out what the Father was teaching to His beloved, and how this is applicable for this hour.
First, I want to address the verse I used from the gospel of Matthew, found at the very top of my writing. This translation of scripture uses phrases that paint vast and generalized pictures that address to the corporate body. Statements that emphasize a mission to usher in hope, such as “the light of the world,” and characterizing believers as a different people: “a city set on a hill,” who “giveth light unto all that are in the house.” Our light arises when we live from a place of fellowship and unity. As believers there is a call and responsibility to respond differently and steward our time and resources effectively while on the earth. Once this is established, we can influence the world, our cities, and homes. If not us, then who?
