Art and Inspiration: Behind Behold Him: The Jesus Collection
Creating art is a deeply personal journey, filled with moments of reflection, inspiration, and sometimes even challenge. As I work on Behold Him: The Jesus Collection, I am often reminded of how God speaks to us in quiet and subtle ways. One of the most beautiful aspects of my work is the sacred space I get to create in—a space where I can listen to the Holy Spirit and allow the divine to guide my brushstrokes.
My three sons—Dane, Leif, and Bryn—are part of the rhythm of my day as I paint. I often hear their footsteps coming up the stairs, and we’ll share a conversation about the piece I’m working on, or they’ll simply pop in to say hello. While they may not realize it, their presence contributes to the atmosphere of creativity, love, and grace in my studio.
This collection, Behold Him, is a reflection on the life of Jesus Christ—His teachings, His sacrifice, and His transformation. It is also a testament to the idea of God’s presence in our lives, even in the smallest, quietest moments. The scripture that has been a focal point for this collection is John 1:14 (NIV): “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” These words capture the essence of what I hope to convey through my art—the majesty of Jesus’ incarnation and His love for humanity.
Each piece in the Behold Him collection reflects a deep connection to scripture, worship, and prayer. My painting process is not just about creating something visually appealing, but about capturing the essence of worship as described in Psalm 141:2 (NIV): “May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.” This scripture reminds me that art, like prayer, rises to God as an offering, and I aim for each piece to be a fragrant offering in its own way.
If you would like to explore the collection further, visit Behold Him: The Jesus Collection. You will find prints that represent different moments in Jesus’ life, all tied to the biblical narrative and the theme of transformation. These artworks are not just pieces for your home; they are a reflection of the spiritual journey, meant to inspire deeper reflection on the life of Christ.
In this collection, you’ll notice recurring themes of light, grace, and the symbolic presence of the monarch butterfly. This is intentional—each butterfly represents transformation, echoing 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV): “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Just as the monarch undergoes a profound metamorphosis, we too are transformed through our relationship with Christ.
Thank you for taking the time to connect with my work. Whether you’re seeking a piece to deepen your personal reflection or simply looking to bring beauty into your space, I hope these paintings serve as a reminder of God’s ever-present love and grace.
