Chronicles focuses on two important themes: God’s covenant with David and the Temple. David plans the temple; his son Solomon builds it. This is the connecting imagery I used to bridge the two books. The temple is the centre stage in these books.

The background outside in nature was intentional.  Asking the Lord for the setting of these two paintings, I specifically heard him say they need to be outdoors.  This represents where his presence resides - everywhere.  All creations sing his praises.  All creation worships the Lord.  Chronicles I wanted to emphasize praise and worship, important to David’s reign, and how worship is essential – whether it’s in a temple or outside.

Tree branches extend from 1 Chronicles over to the second painting; God has a generational plan a purpose.  David's lineage was chosen to carry the seed of Christ.  His son Solomon was chosen to build the temple from the plans his father was given.  The tree branches represent the extending of generation to generation, all part of God's greater plans.
