“The twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.’” — Revelation 4:10–11

This painting, Crown Him Worthy, invites the viewer into a sacred moment of worship and surrender. Crowns of gold—symbols of honor, achievement, identity, and reward—are laid at the feet of Jesus. Around them scatter autumn leaves, speaking of seasons passed and things released, while fresh blossoms bloom with new life. Butterflies rise among them—symbols of transformation, declaring that surrender is not the end, but the beginning of something eternal.
Each crown in this painting represents something we carry—roles we fulfill, victories we’ve fought for, titles we’ve held, and sometimes even the burdens we’ve worn as badges. But here, at His feet, they are offered back. Not discarded, but entrusted. Not lost, but redeemed.
At the center are the feet of Jesus—scarred, holy, and near. His feet, throughout Scripture, are the place where healing flows, where worship pours out, where captives find freedom. To kneel here is not to fall in shame but to rise in reverent love.
The butterflies surrounding the crowns are not just decoration—they are messengers of resurrection. They remind us that when we release what we hold most dear, we open ourselves to transformation. What was once heavy becomes light. What was once striving becomes rest. What once defined us becomes redefined by Him.
In Revelation 4, the elders—already crowned with heavenly reward—choose to lay their crowns down in worship. This act is a profound statement: “Everything I’ve received, everything I’ve become, is because of You. And I give it back to You in love.”
This is what it means to lay our crowns at Jesus’ feet.
It’s the truest form of worship—giving our best not because we must, but because He is worthy.
