"Take Courage, It is I" - fine art print

"When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.  But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”  Mark 14: 26-27

~

In the midst of the vast and stormy sea, Jesus stands as a beacon of divine authority and unyielding strength. The very waters that threaten to engulf mortal men are tamed beneath His feet, bearing testimony to His unparalleled dominion over the natural world. The waves, often seen as harbingers of chaos, bow in reverence, allowing the Savior to tread upon them as one would upon solid ground.

The wind, with all its might and fury, recognizes the voice of its Creator and ceases its roar, allowing for a moment of stillness and awe. The scene evokes the words of the Psalmist: "The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea" (Psalm 93:4).

His footsteps on the water are not just a display of His power but also a testament to His desire to be near His people, to reassure them in times of doubt and fear. This miraculous act is a vivid illustration of Jesus's promise: "Take courage; it is I. Do not be afraid" (Matthew 14:27).
